Who says potatoes can’t be funky? This is Stuart Garner, our Development Chef. He’s hugely talented, he works magic in the kitchen, he’s got really cool hair, and he’s all ours. Hooray.

Stuart’s been with us for a couple of years or so now. And he’s the man who’s helping us put pizzaaaz into potato recipes.

Stuart got hooked on cooking after he got a job in a restaurant kitchen. His sparkle and passion were soon spotted and he was plucked from obscurity (okay, washing dishes) and was soon creating inspired dishes. Cooking became his obsession. He did the university thing but longed to get back to the kitchen.

After training as a chef in Southampton, he worked in a posh restaurant creating fabulous dishes. Then we got to hear about him, and lured him away. (Never underestimate the power of the potato.) Since then, he’s been working on some really interesting projects for us.

So, what does our young spudmeister most love about potatoes? There’s so much you can do with this versatile veg. But despite all the fancy things he cooks up in The Real Potato Co kitchen, his favourite is still mash. (But it’s very posh mash with cream or a dash of pesto.)

We’ll be sharing some of Stuart’s scrummy recipes on the website soon to give you inspiration. (New cooks take heart. Until he was seventeen, Stuart says he couldn’t even scramble an egg.)
